Following this structure: What I intend to do this week: -Draft 2 of proposal -Artist Research -Daniel Ash sculpture page finished -Set up sketchbook -Bauhaus sculpting challenge Diary: Conclusion and how I'll move forward: Learn from this weeks failures and carry on. The silicone didn't work this time but, there are other avenues to explore, like using latex instead or plaster casting instead. Also, do not work as quick I did on the Peter Murphy sculpture. Sitting for 16 hours will send you crazy and you won't be pleased with the outcome, chill out and take it at a steady pace so that you can notice things when they're genuinely going wrong. Next week, I'll aim to take a sculpting break, as I'm feeling burnt out, and work on my sketchbook that I said I would start this week.

Working in Clay Air-dry Clay -Dries very quickly in comparison to other clays -Dependent on the brand can contain fibres that make the sculpture dry looking fluffy -Sometimes struggles to bond to itself if the bonds are weak -Once dry you cannot revive it -Dependent on the brand, is usually more inexpensive in comparison to other clays Oil-based Clay - Monster Clay is the clay of choice for many sculptors and professional model-makers as it will never dry if it's oil-based and you can buy different types of density of Monster Clay to suit the purpose. -Can be dryed by baking in the oven but will not dry in air. -If you're very careful when moulding, you would be able to cast your sculpture when wet and then reuse the clay for another sculpture. -Smoother to work with and doesn't give off dust particles which if exposed to for a prolonged amount of time can damage your health -usually more expensive How to Sculpt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWdBKaP7...

Damien Hirst by Jonathan Yeo Early Life Damien Steven Hirst is an English artist, entrepreneur and art collector born 7th June 1965 in Bristol, but later moved to London. He grew up with his mother (and Stepfather from the age of 2-10) who was Irish Catholic and stated that she 'lost control' of her son when he was young. Hirst was arrested twice for shoplifting although he would say that his mother wouldn't tolerate rebellion. His mother was also artistic but dropped art because she didn't like her teacher-so when Hirst showed a love for drawing she was very encouraging. He attended Allerton Grange School and also the school sixth form-achieving an E-grade in A Level Art. He then applied to Jacob Kramer School of Art and was initially refused a place but was successful in getting a place on the foundation art course. Following this structure: SETTING INTENTIONS - I will complete my sculpture of Daniel Ash for casting - I will finish my unit 5 proposal first draft - I will begin my artist research - I will stick to my timetable -I will make a blog and begin posting on it -I will make a big order for silicone essentials, and also complete any research for the rest of the process DAILY REVIEW CONCLUSION OF THE WEEK AND HOW I'LL MOVE FORWARD I'm quite happy with the progress I've made this week considering how turbulent it has been. Nothing is certain at the moment but at least my college work is a constant-so I've just been cracking on with that mostly. I don't really even want to play any video games as I usually would to pass the time, I'm quite content with working on what I'm working on. We've been kicked out of the studio, my main goal for this coming week is to make space at home for me to work and also to get cracking!
